There are days when all I do is cook and bake in the kitchen, planning meals for the week. On these days, I use one dishcloth for cleanup. When I am done, the dishcloth goes into the laundry. Ingredients, such as flour and sugar, attract wild yeasts that will grow on the dishcloth overnight. By morning, the dishcloth smells awful and should not be used until it is properly laundered. Bread yeast will also spread on the wet dishcloth, causing a bad odor.

I knit these small sized dishcloths specifically for baking days. They fit my small hands, they are perfect for wiping up the table and counters after each bread baking step, and they are quickly laundered.
