Orange Walnut Bread is a delicious quick bread that can be baked as either a dessert or gift bread. The freshly grated orange peel gives this bread an incredible orange flavor that is hard to beat. The loaf also freezes nicely.

Prep Time: 20 minutes

Cook Time: 55 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 1 tbsp freshly grated orange peel
  • 2 tbsp canola oil
  • 2-1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cups sugar
  • 2-1/4 tsp baking powder
  • 3/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp baking soda
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 3/4 cup orange juice
  • 3/4 cup chopped walnuts

Preparation:

  1. Preheat oven 350 degrees F.

  2. Grate a medium size orange. When you have one tablespoon of orange peel grated, place the peel in a large bowl.

  3. Add the remaining ingredients into the large bowl. Mix well.

  4. Scrape batter into a greased loaf pan, 8.5x4.5x2.5 inches. Bake for about 55 minutes or until done. Turn out loaf onto rack or dishtowel and allow to cool completely.
