Orange walnut bread is a delicious quick bread that can be baked as either a dessert or gift bread. The freshly grated orange peel gives this bread an incredible orange flavor that is hard to beat. The loaf also freezes nicely.

Ingredients:
- 1 medium orange
- 2-1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 3/4 cups sugar
- 2-1/4 tsp baking powder
- 3/4 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp baking soda
- 1 med. egg, lightly beaten
- 2 Tbsp canola oil
- 3/4 cup orange juice
- 3/4 cup chopped walnuts
Preparation:
- Preheat oven 350 degrees F.
- Grate a medium size orange, making sure to only get the orange zest and not the white pith. When you have one tablespoon of orange peel grated, place the peel in a large bowl. Add flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and baking soda. Mix well. Add egg, oil, and orange juice. Mix until flour is wet. Fold in walnuts.
- Scrape batter into a greased loaf pan, 8.5x4.5x2.5 inches. Bake for about 55 minutes or until inserted knife comes out clean. Turn out loaf onto rack and allow to cool completely.
