Rolling Pin Crumbs

Elizabeth Yetter
Years ago, the way to make crumbs was to put dried bread, crackers, or even breakfast cereal in a clean paper or plastic bag and then manually use the rolling pin. This is still a favorite method for many of us because it cuts down having to clean a food processor or blender.

To make bread crumbs using this method, break the dried bread into chunks with your hands. Place the chunks of bread in a plastic bag. Flatten the bag to remove excess air and seal shut. Use a rolling pin to roll over the dried bread. The longer you roll, the finer the bread crumbs.

When finished, store the bread crumbs in a plastic container until you are ready to use them.
