Anise Quick Bread

It’s fun to experience different herbs and spices in homemade breads. For this recipe, ground anise seed is used to flavor a delicious, sweet quick bread. The bread is a summer favorite that you can make as one regular size loaf or two small loaves.

Prep Time: 10 minutes

Cook Time: 30 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 5 tsp ground anise seed
  • 4-1/2 baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 tbsp butter, melted
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 cups milk

Preparation:

  1. Preheat oven 350 degrees F.

  2. Grease 1 bread loaf pan or 2 small loaf pans.

  3. In large bowl, mix dry ingredients.

  4. In medium bowl, mix the butter, eggs, and milk.

  5. Stir wet ingredients into dry. Mix well.

  6. Scrape into bread pan(s).

  7. Bake for 30 minutes or until inserted toothpick comes out clean.

  8. Let bread cool for 10 minutes and then turn out of pan.
