This quick and easy to make recipe makes a sweet corn bread that will be the delight of any family dinner. It's also perfect to serve with chili or fried chicken.

Yield: 9 servings

Cook Time: 20 minutes

Total Time: 25 minutes


  • 1 cup coarse yellow corn meal
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 5 tsp baking powder
  • 3/4 tsp salt
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 2 Tbsp butter, melted
  • 1 cup milk, room temperature


  1. Preheat oven 425 degrees F.

  2. In small saucepan, melt the butter. Set aside. In medium size bowl, mix dry ingredients. Stir in beaten egg, butter, and milk. Scrape batter into greased 8 x 8 x 2.25 pan. Bake corn bread for about 20 minutes or until knife poked in the center comes out clean. Let cool to warm. Cut into 9 squares and serve.
