Biscuits for Two

Elizabeth Yetter

This quick and easy biscuit recipe makes a small batch of biscuits, perfect for a family of two to serve at dinnertime.

Yield: 4 to 5 biscuits

Prep Time: 8 minutes

Cook Time: 15 minutes

Total Time: 23 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup sifted all-purpose flour
  • 2-1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 Tbsp butter, soft
  • 1/2 Tbsp vegetable shortening
  • 1/2 cup milk

Preparation:

  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. Mix flour, baking, and salt in medium-size bowl. Work in butter and shortening with a fork. Slowly mix in milk until soft dough forms.

  2. Turn dough out onto floured board. Pat dough until about 1/2 inch thick. Cut 4 to 5 biscuits with biscuit butter. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes, or until lightly golden.

Almost perfect, Member Nostawyn

This recipe is simple and takes very little time to make. They rise up and hold shape beautifully. Next time I make them, I think I'm going to add a pinch of sugar. They were just a little sour for my taste.
